A deviation from normal alignment is referred to as strabismus. In majority of the cases strabismus is due to refractive errors and poor muscular coordination between the individual eyes. There are many different reasons for developing strabismus, and depending on their etiology they may be treated with correcting refractive errors, treating the underlying amblyopia, and surgical alignment of the eyes.
